Christopher Tan, B.Sc. (Hons.), J.D.

Christopher is a lawyer (called to the bar of Ontario) and a registered Canadian trade-mark agent.  Christopher obtained a Bachelor of Science (Honours Biology) from the University of Ottawa and a Juris Doctor from Western University.

Christopher has extensive experience in the litigation of commercial issues in the intellectual property context, including patent and trade-mark infringement damages and accounting of profits and proceedings under section 8 of the Patented Medicines (Notice of Compliance) Regulations.  In addition, Christopher has appeared before the Trade-marks Opposition Board in complex cases relating to pharmaceutical products.

In addition, Christopher has experience in the litigation of commercial disputes and construction disputes under the Ontario Construction Act (formerly, the Construction Lien Act).

Christopher is a contributing author for the Lexis Practice Advisor Canada service.  He is also an assessor for the Canadian Bar Association - Canadian Corporate Counsel Association's Certified In-House Counsel - Intellectual Property program.

Prior to launching THC Lawyers, Christopher practiced law at two intellectual property boutique law firms.  Christopher has been counsel in some of Canada's leading intellectual property cases.

Ran He, B.Sc., Ph.D., J.D.

Ran is a lawyer (called to the bars of New York and Ontario).  Ran obtained a Bachelor of Science (Biotechnology) from Nankai University, a Ph.D. (Biochemistry and Molecular Biology) from the Chinese Academy of Sciences and a Juris Doctor from Osgoode Hall Law School.  During his postdoctoral fellowship, Ran worked on the development of antiviral and anticancer compounds at Johns Hopkins Hospital.  Ran has published fifteen research articles in various publications, including Antimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy, Bioorganic & Medicinal Chemistry and the Journal of Biological Chemistry.

Ran has worked on a variety of intellectual property and commercial disputes.  Ran also has experience in patent and trade-mark issues, including providing advice to clients regarding the validity and infringement of patents and trade-marks.  

Prior to THC Lawyers, Ran articled at an intellectual property boutique law firm and operated his own firm, where he handled a wide variety of commercial matters.
